INTRODUCING
My new newsletter
It’s been a while since I last appeared in your inbox, and I’ve been thinking about how to show up here in the year ahead. We’re all inundated with marketing emails, and I didn’t want to add to the noise. Instead, I’m trying a once-a-month, long-form journal-style newsletter, sharing notes from my studio, inspiration, and seasonal observations from my home in Somerset. I hope these letters feel more authentic and offer a quiet moment.

IN THE STUDIO
My guiding words for the year
Each year I set goals and choose a few guiding words. This year they are courage, perspective, and gratitude: courage to step outside my comfort zone, perspective when challenges arise, and gratitude for the small, everyday joys.
In January, I was grateful for a handful of lovely orders that let me return to work and revisit pieces I hadn’t made in a couple of years. I’ve brought back the Sun and Lune wall hangings, and their simplicity and minimalism feel like the direction I want to carry forward this year.

IN THE GARDEN
Waking up
While winter feels quiet and still, there are moments of life if you look closely. Goldfinches gather on bare branches, robins sing as they search for food, and foxes hunt in the fields while pheasants roam the long grass.
In Somerset, winter floods draw flocks of seabirds inland, and beneath bare apple trees, daffodils and the first snowdrops are beginning to emerge.
This year I’m hoping to spend more time in outdoors, feeding the chickens and growing vegetables and flowers. I don’t have much gardening experience, but today I sowed snapdragons, dahlias, and peppers; fingers crossed they’ll thrive this year.

INSPIRATION
Things I am enjoying this month
▶ Ertha Farm at Sand Point @ertha_farm_at_sand_point
Sand Point is a striking natural pier on the Bristol Channel, and I was delighted to discover Ertha Farm, a lovely family grazing their livestock on this National Trust land. Follow along if you like to see glorious seascapes and adorable animals.
▶ Backyard Flowers @backyard__flowers
As mentioned, I’m keen to start a garden this year, so I’ve been seeking inspiration. Backyard Flowers is a young family learning to live off the land in Somerset, and I’ll be following their journey as their land blooms through the seasons.
▶ The Simple Things Magazine @simplethingsmag
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I was lucky enough to be featured as Maker of the Month in January’s The Simple Things Magazine. It’s a beautiful publication, full of thoughtful articles and seasonal inspiration, perfect for a quiet moment with a cup of tea.
Thank you for reading my first newsletter of 2026. I hope you enjoyed this format as much as I enjoyed putting it together.
Until next month,
Kayleigh
